Andlau is a french Commune in the department Bas-Rhin, in the Alsace on the Alsatian Wine Route (Route des vins d'Alsace).

Politically, the municipality belongs to the arrondissement Sélestat-Erstein and is located in the canton Barr.

The place developed around a Benedictine abbey. The abbey was founded around 880 by Richardis founded. The pious wife was from her husband Charles the Fat (Charles III.) Have been repudiated. According to legend, a female bear showed her the place where the abbey was to be founded. The Richardis fountain on the Place de la Mairie commemorates this legend. The abbey was dissolved as a result of the French Revolution in 1793.
