The community Annaberg-Lungötz is lying in Tennengau in the Salzburger Land. Its districts are located in the Lammertal between the Tennengebirge in the west and the Gosaukamm in the east with the striking summit of the Bischofsmütze (2,458 m).

The name Annaberg goes to church St. Anna in the mountain back, which was built in the years 1750-1752. The establishment of the political community Annaberg took place in 1849, the municipality has had its current name since 1991 Annaberg-Lungötz.
