Geography
Asturias is located in northern Spain on the Bay of Biscay, bordered to the east by the province of Cantabria, to the south by Castile and Leon, and to the west by Galicia.
Most of the area of Asturias is covered by the Cantabrian Mountains, culminating in the Torre de Cerredo at 2,648 m above sea level, in the north a narrow strip of coastal plain. The Cantabrian Mountains are highly fragmented.
