Llanes It is located in the eastern part of the Principality of Asturias and has an area of 264 km2. It limits the north with the Cantabrian Sea; to the south with the Councils of Cangas de Onís, Onís, Cabrales, Peñamellera Alta and Peñamellera Baja; to the west, those of Ribadesella and Cangas de Onís, and to the east, Ribadedeva.
The culminating point is the Peña Blanca, 1,117 m., Which rises above the town of El Mazucu on the border with the Council of Cabrales.
The rivers of the council have a short route due to the proximity of the mountains to the coastline. The most important are the Nueva, the Beón and the Purón, in addition to the Guadamía that makes the limit with Ribadesella and the Goat who does it with Ribadedeva.
To get
By car
- From Madrid the shortest way, but not the fastest, is to take the A-1 in the direction Burgos. Once in this Castilian capital there are two alternatives: either by the N-623, crossing the ports of Páramo de Masa and El Escudo, or by the N-627 and, from Aguilar de Campoo, the A-67 passing the port of Pozazal. In both cases we will end in the town of Torrelavega (Cantabria); from this town take the N-634 / A-8 towards Oviedo and after passing Unquera (Cantabria), leave the main road at exit 302 taking the AS-263 and the LLN-7 that will leave us in the center from the town of Llanes.
- An alternative is to leave Madrid by the A-6 / AP-6 to Tordesillas and here we turn off to the A-62, in the direction of Valladolid, to continue on the N-611 / A-67 towards Palencia and Aguilar de Campoo.
- From the Eastern Cantabrian we will arrive either by the A-67 or by the N-634 to Torrelavega, where we will take the route described above.
- From the Western Cantabrian we will take the A-8 well in Gijon (highway of the coast), or the A-64 in Oviedo until Villaviciosa. From here continue on the A-8 towards Santander until exit 302.
By plane

By train
