Autun is a center of the Burgundy.
To know
Located in the heart of the Burgundy, Autun is one of the oldest cities of France. It was founded, in fact, at the time of the Emperor Augustus with the name of Augustodunum and from the Roman era it still retains important relics among which the theater whose cavea has a diameter of about 150 m.
In times closer to us Autun had as his Bishop Talleyrand, and around the same time welcomed Napoleon, a student of the local military academy now known as Liceo Bonaparte.
Despite its past and its monuments, Autun still remains off the beaten track by international tourism today. The city is in fact in a secluded position with respect to the main traffic arteries, being about sixty kilometers from Chalon-sur-Saône, location on the A6 motorway (European road E15)
