Huế - Ancient capital bathed by the Perfume River, Huế is one of the major attractions of the Vietnam. A little further south is the former demilitarized zone of the 17th parallel which until 1976 marked the border between the two Vietnamese (North and South). Huế is the capital of the Thua Thien-Hue Province in whose territory is the "Bach Ma National Park", established in 1991 to protect endangered fauna species that find refuge in the forests that cover the slopes of the Annamiti Mountains.
Dong Ha - Capital of the Quang Tri Province, Dong Ha has little interest but is located at the crossroads of two major roads, the A1 and road 9 which leads to the Lao Bo border crossing on the border line with the Laos.
Dong Hoi - A spa town on the banks of the "Nhat Le" river, Dong Hoi is the capital of Quang Binh Province.
Vinh - Major regional center, Vinh has an interest in the surrounding beaches. In the territory of the province of which Vinh is the capital is the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, with a series of caves declared a World Heritage Site in the year 2003.

Lao Bảo it is a very busy border crossing since it is on the shortest and most comfortable route from capital of the Thailand. It crosses the region of Isan to the city Laotian of Savannakhet
Nam Phao/Cau Treo is another popular crossing point on the border with Laos. It is about one hundred km from the city of Vinh. To cross it you will need to have the relevant entry visa in your pocket as it is doubtful to obtain it at customs. Normally the pass is open from early morning until dusk.
