Bad Langensalza is a former district town on the northwestern edge of the Thuringian basin. The city is known in connection with the battle of the same name between Prussia and Hanover in 1866, as a result of which Prussia annexed Hanover.

By train
At the 1 Langensalza train station Regional trains stop from Erfurt via Gotha or via Gräfentonna and from Kassel and Göttingen via Leinefelde and Mühlhausen. The station is located on the southern outskirts about one kilometer from the city center.
The one nearby Gotha offers the next ICE train station.
In the street
The city can be reached via the A4 motorway (Eisenach exit) and the B84. The B247 leads from Gotha or from Mühlhausen (Thuringia) to Bad Langensalza.
