Bad Wörishofen is located in Central Swabia. The place became known nationwide through the work of Water doctor Sebastian Kneipp, who came to Wörishofen in 1855 and worked here for more than four decades. Since 1920 Wörishofen has been allowed to act as bath denote, since 1949 the place has city rights.

The cure in Bad Wörishofen has its roots in the naturopathic treatment of the pastor Sebatian Kneippwho developed the water cures and Kneipp medicine in Wörishofen in the second half of the 19th century. A procedure has been running since autumn 2013 at the end of which these traditional natural healing methods according to Kneipp are to be recognized as an intangible cultural heritage by Unesco.
