The Baldeneysee is a reservoir the Dysentery in the Ruhr area south of Essen. With an area of 2.7 square kilometers and a length of 9.2 kilometers, it is now the largest and most diverse leisure area in Essen. The lake is 52 meters above sea level and a maximum of eight meters deep. When the dredging ended in 1984, its volume was around 7.6 billion liters of water. The Ruhrverband planned the lake for the natural cleaning of the Ruhr - together with the Hengstey, Harkort, Kemnader lake and Kettwiger See.
