Banff is a small town on the northeast coast Scotland in the Council Area Aberdeenshire at the mouth of the Deveron.

Banff is the eponymous place of the former county of Banffshire. Together with the village east of the Deveron Macduff today it forms a communal unit. The canadian city Banff got its name in 1894 from George Stephen a former director of the Canadian Pacific Railway who was born in Banff, Scotland. In the film Local Hero served, among other things, Banff as a filming location.
