background
history
When the film producer shot the film "Path of the Raingods" in 1980, he hired Sharon Matola to take care of the animals needed for the filming. When it was unclear what would happen to the animals after filming, she quickly founded the Belize Zoo to give the animals a long-term home. In the meantime a few animals have been added, so that you can admire over 125 animals here. However, all animals are either found injured, from other zoos or from the confiscation of illegal animal transports.
