Benavente is in the province of Zamora in the autonomous region of Castile and León. The city was repopulated under King Ferdinand II. In 1167 she received foral rights (Derecho foral = civil law). The church of Santa Maria de Azogue is also worth seeing. Benavente is on the Via de la Plata.

- Torra del Carracol Castle. Today the Parador Hotel Fernando II is located in the most representative building in the village. The castle was built in the Renaissance style at Fernando II's orders and is located on the edge of the city that was once enclosed by city walls. The wide arched windows allow a beautiful view. On the first floor there is a dining room for events with a magnificent Mudejar ceiling. The castle was demolished in 1808 during the War of Independence.
- Santa María de Azogue Church. The church has remarkable portals with polychrome, Gothic sculptures and various pillars.
- San Juan del Mercado Church. The church has an equally noteworthy portal.
- Piedad Hospital. An old pilgrim hostel.
- Iglesia Santa Marta de Tera. In Romanesque style 32 km from the center and the Romanesque parish church in Villafafila 28 km.

- Parador Fernando II. The Parador Fernando II in the Torra del Carracol castle from the 16th century is the most representative building in the city. The Parador is located in the snail tower, which is the only building from the previous castle to be preserved, and in a new building. In the basement of the snail tower is the bar behind thick walls and on the first floor there is a dining room with an old, beautiful wooden ceiling and other old decorations.
