The Berliner Höhenweg is considered the "Haute route" the Zillertal Alps and is one of the greatest high-altitude trails in the entire Alps.

The round tour begins and ends in Mayrhofen and connects five huts of the DAV section Berlin in six daily stages.
The centerpiece and greatest part is the 4th stage from the Berliner Hütte to the Furtschaglhaus;
preparation
The regular conditions are high alpine hikes in high alpine terrain, a corresponding one is required Hiking equipment including clothing for temperatures below zero and for strong winds.
Climbing equipment (ice ax, crampons, rope, etc.) is not required in regular conditions. A rockfall helmet can be helpful for individual short passages.

The walking times apply to experienced and in good condition Mountain hikers on the marked route. Conditions: quality Surefootedness and a head for heights, ability to orientate especially in fog; Requirements for a safe and relaxing tour: dry and predictable good weather
- 1st stage: Mayrhofen (628 m) - Edelhütte (2238 m) - Kassel hut (2177 m); 14km, walking time: 7 - 9 hours;
- 2nd stage: Kasseler Hut (2177 m) - Lappenscharte (2700 m) - Greizer Hut (2226 m); Walking time: approx. 4 1/2 hours;
- 3rd stage: Greizer Hut (2226 m) - Mörchenscharte (2870 m) - Berlin hut (2040m); Walking time: approx. 5 1/2 hours;
- 4th stage: Berliner Hut (2040 m) - Schönbichler Horn (3133 m) - Furtschaglhaus (2295 m); Walking time: approx. 5 hours;
- 5th stage: Furtschaglhaus (2295 m) - Schlegeis reservoir (1800 m) - Olpererhütte (2389 m) - Friesenberghaus (2498m); Walking time: approx. 5 1/2 hours;
- 6th stage: Friesenberghaus (2498 m) - Gamshütte (1916 m); Walking time: approx. 6 - 8 hours;
- Descent from the Gamshütte in approx. 2 hours steeply into the Zemmtal to the Gamsgruber inn, or in approx. 2 hours afterwards Finkenberg;
