Berlin (German: Berlin) is a federal state (subnational region) and capital of Germany.
Understand
Berlin is known for its history, internationalism and tolerance, its vibrant nightlife, its many cafes, clubs and bars, its street art and its numerous museums, palaces, and other places of historical interest. Berlin's architecture is quite diverse. Although badly damaged in the final years of World War II and collapsed during the Cold War, Berlin was rebuilt especially with the reunification push after the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989.
It is now possible to see traces of various historical periods in a short space within the city center, from a few surviving medieval buildings near Alexanderplatz, to the modern glass and steel structures at Potsdamer Platz. Due to its tumultuous history, Berlin remains a city with many characteristic neighborhoods. And because of its long history as a cosmopolitan capital (first from Prussia then from Germany) it has attracted immigrants from all over the world for over three hundred years and many of them have remained and continue to leave a distinct mark on the city.
