Tourist Attractions

Mansur Shah Dargah

Churches, mosques, synagogues, temples

  • 1  Kankaleshwar temple. Yadava meets Bauhaus - a somewhat daring synthesis of old temple fabric (probably from the Yadava dynasty from the 13th century) and function-dominated factory style. The temple has a large inner dome. Unfortunately, Muslim zealots have all chopped off the heads of the outer figurines. Inside, the portals to the three sanctuaries are interesting. To get into the temple, when the water level in the temple pond is higher, Kneipp wading is the order of the day - not an easy exercise in view of the mossy stones. But you can hold on to the railing.
  • 2  Khandoba temple. 1.5 km from Mansur Shah Dargah is the unusual and original Khandoba Temple. It has two towers decorated with stucco and it reminds a little of the palaces in Rajasthan.

Buildings

  • If you walk from the Kankaleshwar temple to the northwest towards the river bank, you can see well-preserved parts of the City fortifications and the Kotwali Gate.
  • 3  Khazana Fountain (Kajana Bavdi). Brunnen is about 5 km south of town and just 200 m west of the NH211. However, it is not unlikely that no one knows the well. The fountain dates back to 1583. The visit is only worthwhile for hardcore archeology fans, because the inexperienced visitor will find nothing spectacular.

Monuments

  • Shahinshah Wali Dargah. A tomb of an important Muslim personality. She is visited again and again by believers. The Daragh is not particularly architecturally interesting, but it has a nice atmosphere. You can get there by walking 750 meters east from Kankaleshwar Temple or by driving.
  • 4 Mansur Shah Dargah Here are some covered graves in a beautiful garden, one of which is made of artfully worked marble. This grade is that of the 18th century Sufi Mansur Shah. The tombs are on the east side of the river, about 1.5 km north of the Kankaleshwar Temple.

trips

  • 1 Sautada - About 1.5 km west of this small town are 2 waterfalls and a moderately interesting temple in a basin with waterfalls. The waterfalls dry up when there is little rain, but the valley basin and the forest are still beautiful to look at. Sautada is 50 km from Bid in the west-southwest direction on the road to Jamkhed (from there 10 km northeast). If you travel from Bid to Ahmednagar or vice versa, you should consider this detour option.
