Maharashtra (महाराष्ट्र) lies in west of India. It is the third largest state in India by size and the second largest by population. It stretches from the west coast to the inland regions with different climates. Maharashtra includes the most industrialized region of India, the Mumbai-Pune belt. In agriculture, too, the state is one of the most progressive and best-irrigated in India.
Regions
Maharashtra borders on the Indian states to the south Goa, Karnataka and Telangana, which changed in 2014 from the state Andhra Pradesh split off in the east Chhattisgarh and in the north Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. The small union territory still lies between Maharashtra and Gujarat Dadra and Nagar Haveli. In the west it borders with the coastal region Konkan to the Arabian sea. The coastal region is bordered to the east by the steep mountains of the West Ghats. This mountain range is more likely to be imagined as a break-off edge that lacks a prominent eastern slope, but merges into a plateau.

Marathi is the official language, other languages include Hindi, Urdu, Gujarati and English. In Maharashtra, the Marathi numbers are predominantly used. To read the numbers, one can simply keep a city bus ticket as a cheat sheet with all the numbers from 0 to 9 listed on it. You can also use the number plates of the intercity buses to study, because these are usually painted twice: once with our numbers and once in Marathi numbers.
