Punjab is a state in the northwest of Central India.Punjab borders the Indian states in the south Haryana and Rajasthan, in the north Himachal Pradesh and in the west Pakistan.
Regions
- Majha region: This region between the Ravi, Beas and Sutlej rivers is considered the heartland of Punjab and the cradle of Sikhism. Here are the cities Amritsar, Pathankot, Gurdaspur and Tarn Taran.
- Doaba region: Doaba means Land between two rivers and is located between the Beas and Sutlej rivers. The main cities are Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahar and Kapurthala. If you drive overland, you can see the fertile wheat fields. The locals refer to the region as one of the most fertile in the world.
- Malwa Region: Largest region south of the Sutlej River. The most important cities in the eleven districts belonging to the Malwa region are Ludhiana, Patiala, Sangrur, Bathinda, Mansa, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Rajpura, Moga and Ajitgarh. Here you can see cotton plants in the fields.
