Urban centers

  • 1 Bermeo - Port with a long maritime tradition behind it, Bermeo it is located on a high and rocky stretch of coast surrounded by some islets, little more than rocks.
  • 2 Bilbao (Bilbo) - A very dynamic city, Bilbao is at the center of a conurbation of about 1,000,000 inhabitants.
  • 3 Durango - Second center of the province by population, Durango it has interesting monuments and is also suitable for excursions to the nearby natural park of Urkiola.

  • 7 Lekeitio (Lequeitio) - A seaside resort on the east coast, renowned for its two beaches, Isunza and Carraspio, viewed from the islet of San Nicola.
  • 8 Markina-Xemein (Marquina-Jeméin) - Located in the Artibai River Valley, Markina-Xemein it is famous for being the birthplace of talented pelota players.
  • 9 Ondarroa (Ondárroa) - Fishing port of some importance on the mouth of the Artibai river, Ondarroa has a beach called playa de Saturrarán, right on the border with the province of Guipúzcoa.
  • 10 Portugalete - City of 50,000 inhabitants with a historic center gathered around the basilica of Santa Maria and a bridge over the Nervión river which is a heritage protected by UNESCO (Vizcaya Bridge).
