In the years 1975-1998, the town administratively belonged to the then Wałbrzych Province.

On the way with Ząbkowice Śląskie down Henrykow it is worth staying in this small village with a magnificent gothic church under the invocation of Our Lady of Sorrows, before the war called by the local people the "White Cathedral".

The value of the historic church is its homogeneous baroque and rococo furnishings, specially designed for it and harmonizing well with the interior architecture.

Thanks to the miraculous statue of Our Lady of Sorrows, it has been a pilgrimage center since the 15th century.

Every year, during the Christmas season, you can see a unique one of the largest villages built by parishioners Poland but even in Europe, Christmas nativity scene. In the structure of the nativity scene, thanks to the structural changes introduced, a larger space resembling the interior of a cave was obtained. It is 19 meters (!) High and presents a panorama Bethlehem, and the figures here represent life-size people known from The bibleso is the case with animals. The temple can be visited on Sundays from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m., on weekdays from 16.30-17.30.

Historical monuments

According to the registry National Heritage Institute the list of monuments includes:

  • parish church Our Lady of Sorrows from the 15th-18th centuries, the sanctuary of Our Lady of Bobolic. The wooden church in this place was mentioned in 1447, as evidenced by the foundation plaque embedded in the buttress of the later building.

The brick Gothic temple, built in 1495-1501, was rebuilt into a baroque one in 1730-1736. Despite the reconstruction, the church has preserved its gothic body to this day, tightened with huge buttresses, with pointed windows and covered with a gable roof. Only the upper part of the façade has a late baroque character with a wavy gable framed by two tall towers, covered with baroque cupolas with lanterns.

The rich interior design comes from the 18th century and includes a set of altars, a pulpit, confessionals, a music choir and paintings. One of the most valuable pieces of equipment is the painting in the main altar - "The Descent from the Cross" by Felix Anton Scheffier from 1743.

In the lower part of the main altar, there is the famous folk statue of Pieta, mentioned with graces, from the 15th century.

  • manor and farm complex from the 17th century, the 19th century:
    • renaissance mansion from 1615, rebuilt into a baroque palace in 1696-1697 and in 1888. At the end of World War II, the palace was hidden from collections Berlin Ethnographic Museum.
    • extensive landscaped park from the 18th-19th centuries with a linden-hornbeam avenue and closer to the remains of a garden established in the 17th century with a fountain and 2 damaged statues.
