Geographical notes

The bordering administrative regions are (clockwise from the west) Plzeň, Central Bohemia, Vysocina is South Moravia. In the south it borders theAustria and the Germany. This region is also called Budĕjovický kraj or Českobudĕjovický kraj but since 2001 these terms have become obsolete.

The altitude in this region reaches its highest point in Plechý (1378 m) near the Šumava, the lowest area (350 m a.s.l.) is Orlická dam.

  • Tábor - Capital of the district of the same name. Historic city of the early 1400s that offers the opportunity to admire buildings of the time (in different states of conservation).

Hluboká Castle

Prices are updated in July 2016. On the site where a Gothic fortress was built in the mid-13th century, the neo-Gothic castle of Hluboká now stands. Built when the dynasty of the Přemislidi took power over the whole of Bohemia and has been modified several times over the years. The latest of these dates back to the years 1839-1871, when the building was completely rebuilt in a neo-Gothic style inspired by windsor castle, as a representative office of the Schwarzenberg. Authors of the reconstruction were the Austrian architect Franz Beer is Ferdinand Deworetzky. The interiors still preserve precious collections of Flemish tapestries and tapestries, weapons, furniture and paintings. The large English park is of naturalistic and landscape interest; inside the park there is also a riding school, which today is home to art exhibitions.
