Bouxwiller (Eng. Buchsweiler) is one french Commune in the department Bas-Rhin in the Alsace, West of Haguenau.
background
Up until 1793 Bouxwiller was the main town in the county of Hanau-Lichteberg. Unfortunately the castle was destroyed in 1805. But the half-timbered houses of that time have been preserved.
Today the municipality belongs politically to the Arrondissement Saverne and is the administrative center of the Canton Bouxwiller.

It could be the old one The townscape with the half-timbered houses from the 15th to the 18th century.
- Place du Château. The Place du Château is somewhat lost to the low building complex, which was built in 1659 as a count's office and pension chamber. In 1909 it was rebuilt and now serves as a town hall (Hotel de Ville). This is upstairs Musée de Bouxwiller et du Pays de Hanau. To the right of the main front of the town hall is the former one Stables from 1688, today it houses the post office.
- St-Jacques Church. The Church of St-Jacques is a Protestant church that was built in 1614. Stylistically, it can be assigned to the Gothic. Inside is one Organ by Jean-Andre Silbermann from 1778.
- Musée Judéo-Alsacien. The Musée Judéo-Alsacien is located in the former synagogue at Grand'Rue 62. The museum opened in 1998 and shows the history of the Jews in Alsace in nine exhibition rooms.Open: April - September Tue - Fri 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m., Sun 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., Sat, Mon closed on Jewish holidays.
