Tourist Attractions

  • Cascada de Sorrosal. The waterfalls, which are visible almost in the entire village, can be reached via a short path on the outskirts that goes off the road to Oto. Since the waterfall creates a clear cloud of spray, caution is advised, especially with sensitive, expensive cameras. The steep rock walls next to the waterfall can also be climbed, a Via ferrata (K2) is available, but appropriate mountain equipment is required for this.
  • Iglesia de San Pedro. The church from 1578 with the small clocks on the steeple can be seen from almost everywhere in the village, from the town center there is a small street on foot up the hill.
  • Oto. The small, picturesque town is less than a kilometer from the gates of Broto and can be easily explored on foot.

In Broto there are a number of restaurants, the prices are probably surprisingly cheap due to competition, with daily menus between 13 and 15 € including wine as the best price - and the food is quite enjoyable (the "free wine" is not always). In many places there is also a locally made one Pacharán Ordesano (an aniseed sloe liqueur) that is drunk as a digestif.

  • Restaurant Hotel Pradas. Restaurant in the center of the village with very good, partly regional cuisine.
  • Pizzeria La Tea

nightlife

  • 1  El Perdido Meeting Bar, Calle Santa Cruz 11. Trendy, modern bar next to the church also with food. The El Perdido also organizes live concerts of various styles again and again.

Practical advice

In Broto there is a gas station and two small supermarkets. The town's tourist information center in the town hall is only open during Easter week and the summer holidays. Otherwise, refer to the Ordesa National Park tourist information office Torla referenced. In the village itself there are only a few parking spaces that are only intended for loading and unloading. The other infrastructure with ATMs, shops, restaurants and bars is good.

trips

Aínsa, Plaza Mayor
  • Aínsa. The small town, which is well worth seeing, is about 40 km southeast of Broto. Stone arcade houses are grouped on both sides around the Plaza Mayor, and the rather spartan church can be found on one corner Santa María from the 12th century with a three-aisled crypt and a Romanesque tower, which is rather unusual for Spain. It is possible to climb the tower (€ 1 per person) and because of the extremely narrow stairs it is an experience in itself.
Ermita de Santa Úrbez
  • Valle de Vió - Cañón de Añisclo. The valley is accessed by the narrow HU-631, which branches off the N-260a just a few kilometers south of Broto. First you drive through a wide, green high valley until you reach the small main town Fanlo happens, then the street leads on Rio Aso and later on Rio Bellós through the breathtaking Cañón de Añisclo. The road leads partly along the bottom of the canyon, it is narrow with numerous alternative points, the permitted speed of 30km / h can usually not be driven, so plan enough time - even for short stops to take photos. The canyon is the most spectacular canyon the Pyrenees has to offer. Halfway there is also a stop with a short hike to the Ermita de Santa Úrbez, a small chapel in the rock. If possible, it is not worth driving on the popular street on weekends, in the high season the street becomes a one-way street and can only be used in the direction of Broto. The entry is then in Escalona from the A-138.
