Buxheim is an Upper Swabian municipality in the district Unterallgäu. It borders the Iller in the west and is otherwise surrounded by the city Memmingen.

Buxheim Monastery
- Charterhouse of Buxheim (At the Brunohaus). Tel.: (0)8331 61804. Open: from 1st Apr-1st Open daily in November, in winter only with prior registration (guided tour).Price: Adults € 4.
- The monastery was founded around 1000 as a canon monastery. In 1402 it was acquired by the Catholic Order of Carthusian. When the Protestant imperial city of Memmingen intervened in the life of the religious in 1546, the monastery was called Reich Charterhouse Maria Saal placed under the protection of the Holy Roman Empire. It had its heyday in the 18th century, when the charterhouse was fundamentally rebuilt by the brothers Johann Baptist Zimmermann and Domenicus carpenter. In 1803 the monastery was secularized and the new owners sold part of the inventory due to financial problems. A large part of the cultural assets and the lands were acquired by the Bavarian state, some of the buildings were given to the Salesians Don Bosco sold and now serve as a private school.
- 1 St. Mary. This central structure is divided by the large cloister. On the east side is the priest's choir with the choir stalls carved from 200 oaks. A side door leads to the sacral museum in the sacristy. In addition to the display boards and the sacristy tariff, this also deserves attention Buxheim organ book with audio samples. The west side of the church is the brother choir, it served the lay brothers as a place of worship. It is separated from the priestly choir by a rood screen through which the great cloister leads. The Marienkapelle is on the northwest corner.

The small Annenkapelle on the northwest corner of the Great Cloister was designed around 1740 in the style of the early Rococo and often as a little Wies designated.
Carthusian Museum
Three cells with reference to the life and work of the Carthusians, they show the living and working space of the monks, illustrate the daily routine in the monastery.

The church, built by Domenicus Zimmermann in the early 18th century, originally belonged to the monastery complex, is located on the edge of the area and is freely accessible as a village church.
