Cabo San Lucas is a center of Mulegé at the southern end of the Baja California Sur.

Geographical notes

It is the second largest city by extension and number of inhabitants of the state after La Paz and is located at the extreme tip of the peninsula washed by the Pacific Ocean on one side and the Sea of ​​Cortés on the other.

Background

It is believed that the first human settlements in southern Baja date back to 14,000 years ago. The first European settlers, upon their arrival in the area found some nomads of the gods tribe Pericúes or Pericù who lived in the Neolithic style.

Until the mid-1800s the inhabitants did not exceed twenty, urban development only took place later. Since 1974, the national government has invested heavily in building infrastructure to serve the Los Cabos tourist district, making it one of the most renowned seaside resorts in Mexico.
