Baja California Sur (Baja California Sur) is a state in the Baja California Peninsula of the Mexico.

The main resources of the state are in tourism, thanks to the great beauty of its environment.
Geographical notes
Located in the northwestern part of the country and occupies the southern part of the Baja California Peninsula. It is bathed to the west and south by the Pacific Ocean, to the east by the Sea of Cortés while it borders to the north with the state of Baja California.
In the northern part are the lagoons of San Ignacio and Ojo de Liebre, breeding sites of the gray whale. Not far away is the Vizcaíno desert in which the El Vizcaíno Biosphere Reserve.
Some islands in the Pacific Ocean (Natividad, Magdalena and Santa Margarita) and some in the Mare de Cortés are part of Baja California Sur: San Marcos, Coronados, Carmen, Monserrat, Santa Catalina, Santa Cruz, San Diego, San José, San Francisco, Partida, Espíritu Santo and Cerralvo.
The highest points in the state are Sierra La Laguna, Las Tres Vírgenes volcano and Cerro Salsipuedes.
When to go
In the summer months the temperature can exceed 40 ° and even more in the hinterland areas. In winter it drops to an average of 9 °. The stretch of coast from La Paz to Cabo is the hottest ever with high temperatures in the summer and reaching spring values in the winter months (20-27 °)

The region has three international airports but no direct flights from Europe.

By bus

Shuttle buses connect Los Cabos International Airport to La Paz.
What see
- Rock art. Various archaeological sites can be visited in the rugged mountains of the area. The canyon valley and river descend towards the village of Santa Teresita on the left. On the far right you arrive at the mountain village of San Francisco de la Sierra, where you can admire the Rock Paintings of Sierra de San Francisco, numerous rock paintings from prehistoric times. The flora is from the desert ecoregion. The Sierra de San Francisco is part of the peninsular mountain range.
What to do
- Whale Watching (Observation of cetaceans). In the waters of the bay, at certain times of the year, it is possible to practice whale watching; one of the best in the world thanks to the numerous species of cetaceans (and fish in general) that populate these waters.
- Diving and Snorkeling (Diving and snorkeling). Diving in these waters is nothing short of spectacular, because thanks to the unique conditions (tropical in the south and temperate in the north), this area is populated with an incredible number of different species.
- Fishing. This area has often been singled out as one of the best fishing sites. Marlin, sailfish, tuna, amberjack and many other fish abound in the blue waters surrounding the peninsula.
