Cape Dorset is a city of Nunavut located on Dorset Island ofcanadian arctic archipelago.
Understand
Cape Dorset is located on Dorset Island in the south-eastern Foxe Peninsula of theBaffin Island in L'canadian arctic archipelago. The rolling tundra that surrounds it is part of the Kinngait Range. Cape Dorset is the gateway to the Snow Goose to Dewey Soper Bird Sanctuary, a nesting area for migratory blue geese located in 275 km northeast of the locality. Although the traditional economy is based on hunting, including seal hunting, many Inuit, who are in the majority, are artisans and artists. Nearby, the historic park of Île Mallikjuaq shows more than 1,000 years existence of Thule and Dorset cultures in the region. There is also an interpretation center at the historical park.
