Regions

The name Capricorn indicates the Tropic of Capricorn, which is considered to be the transition from the southern subtropics to the tropics in terms of solar radiation. The region is surrounded by the districts Vhembe, Mopani, Sekhukhune and Waterberg. In the contrasting landscape there are large areas of grass with pastureland, scrub, fruit growing and citrus farms, but also game reserves and mining. There are numerous traces of prehistoric creatures, rock paintings point to bygone cultures, and in several newer villages the tradition of the people living here is maintained.
