- Joensuu - The city of Joensuu is (as per literal translation) at the mouth of a river that flows into a lake. It is one of the centers in Eastern Finland with relatively rapid growth. Joensuu University has a steady stream of new students from all over the country.

How to get
By plane
You can fly directly to Joensuu from Helsinki.
By car
North Karelia is surprisingly far from southern Finland. To get there by car from Helsinki, it will take about six hours; almost more time than it takes to get up to Oulu.
On the train
There are two long distance railway lines ending in Joensuu; one from Helsinki to Lappeenranta and along the border to Joensuu and another that runs horizontally across the country. If you are going to go to Lieksa or Nurmes you can continue by local train from Joensuu.
By bus
There are also bus connections from small and large cities in the Lakeland Finland, in particular from Kuopio is Lappeenranta, as well as the buses that connect Helsinki with Joensuu.
