The central area of Spain has a very different climate from that of the coastal areas. Unlike the coasts, which have a Mediterranean climate, the central areas of the peninsula have a continental climate. Summers are very hot, usually exceeding 35ºC and very cold winters reaching temperatures of -10ºC in some places.
