Chengdu (成都; Chéngdū) is a city belonging to the province of Sichuan in the southwest of the China.
To know
Chengdu is famous for being the homeland of the Pandas. In fact, in the city there is a center managed by the WWF for the conservation and reproduction of these endangered animals. http://www.panda.org.cn/english/
Background
More than four thousand years ago, the prehistoric Bronze Age culture of Jinsha (金沙; Jīnshā) took hold in this region. The fertile Chengdu Plain, on which Chengdu is located, is called Tianfu zi guo (天府之国; Tiānfŭ zhī guó), which means the "paradise zone".
