The Chin State(Burmese: ချင်းပြည်နယ်) is a region or administrative unit in the west Myanmar. It's one of the most remote and hard-to-reach regions in the country. With one or two small exceptions, it is not allowed to travel to the state.
Travel advice
It is not possible to tour the region for tourism. You should therefore find out about the current situation on site and on the Internet. With a permit and a guide, it is possible to visit Mt. Victoria.

background
The Chin are a regional minority in Myanmar. With regard to their religion, they are an exception in the otherwise predominantly Buddhist Myanmar - they are Christians. Their population is estimated at around 4 million. Only 1 million of them still live in Chin State, and another million in neighboring India. Another part has moved to the other states and divisions in the country. The rest live outside the country, mostly as workers in other Southeast Asian countries.
language
The Chin themselves have their own language, but as everywhere in the country, official Burmese is spoken and taught.
getting there
The state is a remote and mountainous region with very poor infrastructure. A journey from Yangon to villages in this region takes up to 3 days.
Tourist Attractions
- Some Chin villages in the south can be enjoyed as a day trip from the old royal capital of the Rakhine Empire Mrauk U from visiting. Corresponding tours are offered on site.
security
There is no major unrest in the region, as almost all ethnic groups have now negotiated and signed appropriate ceasefire agreements with the central government. Nevertheless, the state is not accessible to travelers.
