Khmelnytskyi (Ukrainian Хмельницький, English spelling Khmelnytskyi) is the capital of Khmelnytskyi Oblast.

Khmelnyzkyj was renamed in 1954 in honor of Bohdan Khmelnyzkyj - a general in the fight against the Turks.
