Kamianets-Podilskyi is a city in the Khmelnytskyi Oblast in the historical region of Podolia. It is one of the oldest cities in Ukraine and internationally known for the fortress on a rock in a loop of the Smotrych river.

The city was mentioned as early as the 12th century. It was built in a fortress on a 700 × 500 m orbital mountain of the Smotrytsch river on limestone cliffs, which strategically secured the environment. This fortification is connected to the Neustadt via a bridge.
