Kolomyia is a city in the western Ukrainian oblast Ivano-Frankivsk and especially known for the Museum of Local Lore and the Museum of Easter Eggs. Kolomyja is considered to be the center of the arts Pisanky, artistically painted Easter eggs; a custom that is practically throughout Carpathian region is maintained.

By plane

There is a private airport in Kolomyja. Next airport with regular service (mainly from / to Kiev) is in Ivano-Frankivsk; but you have more choice of flights in Lviv (Lviv).

By train

Kolomyja is at the crossing of the railway lines Rakhiv - Delyatyn - Chernivtsi and Lviv-Ivano-Frankivsk - Chernivtsi.

  • Annunciation Church. An old wooden church in the wul. Karpatska 2.
  • Cathedral of St. Ignazius of Lojola, wul. Iwana Franka 18-1. A magnificent brick cathedral.
  • City center. With numerous splendid administrative and town houses, including the one built in 1877 Town hall with tower.
  • Casimir IV Jagiellon High School
  • J. Kobrynskyi Museum of Hutsul Folk Art, wul. Teatralna 25. (Musej narodnoho mysteztwa Huzulschtschyny ta Pokuttja im. J. Kobrynskoho).
Museum of Easter Egg Painting
  • Museum of Easter Egg Painting, prosp. W. Tschornowola 43b. (Musej pysanskoho rospysu), by the way, also looks like an oversized Easter egg.
  • "Proswita" local history museum, wul. W. Blawazkoho 2. Mainly a private collection of historical everyday objects from the region, including many coins, of the former biology teacher Roman Jaworskyj in his private home. The museum consists of three completely overcrowded and cleared rooms with no explanation or structure.
  • Taras Shevchenko Monument, on pl. Widrodzhennja (Rebirth Square).
  • World War Memorial. After independence, the World War II memorial was rededicated as a memorial to fighters who "fell for the freedom of Ukraine".
