The Ivanovo-Frankivsk Oblast lies in the Ukraine. To the west of it lies the Zakarpattia Oblast, north the Lviv Oblast, east of the Ternopil Oblast, in the south it borders on the Chernivtsi Oblast and on Romania.
Regions
Ivano-Frankivsk is part of the Carpathian Mountains, and here is that too Hoverla, the highest mountain in Ukraine at 2061 m. The oblast also belongs in part to the historical region of Galicia.
