Autonomous district of Jamalo-Nenec is a region of the Russia and represents the northernmost part of the Urals.

Background
Although this region seems to attract only those interested in nature and adventure tourism in the polar lands, some of the cities in the district have been the protagonists of terrible wars during the expansion of the Russian empire into Siberia. In particular, this region is linked to the events of the Cossack chief Ermak Timofeevič.
