Coatepec is a city located in the central state of Veracruz, Mexico. It is recognized for its coffee production and for having a privileged climate for the cultivation of orchids.

It was a pre-Hispanic population of the Totonacs, gathered in the present place in the 16th century; The population arrived from a place located 15 km to the west, known by the name of Old Coatepec. In 1560, the Franciscan religious founded the first church on the current site.
