Colima, officially theFree and Sovereign State of Colima (Estado Libre y Soberano de Colima), is a small state of Mexico located in the west of the country on the Pacific Rim.

Understand

The state of Colima has very little tourist infrastructure. You have to be a little adventurous to occupy yourself in the region. North

  • Nevado volcano (Nevado de Colima)  – The nevado (4 240 m), the most northerly, is no longer active, and is covered with snow.

At the entrance of Yerba buena is the start of a short hike of 3-4 km on the right.
  • The Maria  – La maria is a lagoon (lake) around which a small tourist center has opened with a restaurant and cabanas. She is on the road to get to Yerba buena.
  • Carrizalillos  – Another lagoon of the same type as La maria, closer to Colima. It can be reached by bus from the Rojo de Colima bus station.
