Jalisco is a state in the Mexican coast on the Pacific of the Mexico.
To know
The name comes from the combination of three words náhuatl: xalli, which means arena, ixtli, face or surface and the suffix for places -co, therefore: "the surface of the arena". Until 1836 Jalisco was written Xalisco, where the grapheme X corresponded to the phoneme / ʃ /, corresponding to the sound ski Italian.
Geographical notes
It borders to the north-west with the state of Nayarit, north with Zacatecas is Aguascalientes and to the east with the states of Michoacán, Guanajuato is Colima. Its capital is Guadalajara.
Background
In ancient times, Jalisco was the name of one of the kingdoms of the Chimalhuacán confederation, which enjoyed friendly relations with the Aztecs. In 1539 it became a province of New Spain with the name of Nueva Galicia.
Spoken languages
The main language is clearly lo Spanish although with a little bit of effort it is possible to find someone who speaks English. There are many who understand English but do not speak it correctly, however with a little patience it will be possible to communicate.

- The Manzanilla - Seaside resort in the southern area of the state of Jalisco.
- Puerto Vallarta - Popular seaside resort and main attraction.
- Tepatitlan
- Tepatitlán de Morelos - On a plateau 70 km east of Guadalajara.
- Tequila - Small town known for having originally distilled the famous and homonymous brandy.
- Tomatlán - Beautiful agricultural town with a historic town square.

By car
There are many Taxi in most cities (large or small). Fares can vary, so it's always a good idea to negotiate the price before starting the ride.
By bus
Regional buses run seven days a week, fares are negligible (to be paid only in pesos) and buses are reliable. Most of the drivers speak alone Spanish but they will surely be able to understand the name of the city where you want to stop. The "first class" buses are equipped with air conditioning.
