Fortresses on the Caribbean coast, world heritage site

  • 1 Portobelo, on the Atlantic coast east of Colón. The fortifications are part of the world cultural heritage. Due to their poor condition, they were classified as endangered.
  • 2 Fort San Lorenzo, west of Colon at the mouth of the Chagres River, is also an endangered World Heritage Site.
