The territory of the district is mainly mountainous and hilly. To the west and in the center-south rise the reliefs of Snowdonia. The major peaks are located on the eastern border where the Camedd Llewelyn (1062 meters) and the Glyder Fawr (1,001 meters) rise. The main river is the Conwy which flows from south to north in a wide valley. The west-central part of the district falls within the Snowdonia National Park.
