Rich in an important monumental heritage inherited both from the Arab-Andalusian period and from that which followed the Reconquered, it deploys its traditional whitewashed houses along the Guadalquivir, at the foot of its imposing cathedral (former great mosque). Its old center, with picturesque alleys (especially in the old Jewish quarter, the Judería) has been classified as a World Heritage Site by Unesco since 1994.
