Via Route 19. Courtenay is 109 km from Nanaimo, from the island's capital Victoria 220 km.
By boat
Courtenay (or the district of Comox) has one Ferry connection to the mainland to Powell River which if you go to Vancouver wants to continue, but is impractical because you have to use another ferry on this route, namely the one from Saltery Bay to Earls Cove. It is cheaper to get to Vancouver if you board a ferry in Nanaimo.
