Vancouver Island is one of the Canadian West coast offshore island. It is a good 450 km long and around 100 km wide and with an area of ​​31,285 km² is somewhat smaller than North Rhine-Westphalia.

The island is worth visiting because of two national parks. One of them, the Pacific Rim National Park, has a famous and very challenging hiking trail.
