Cremona is a town on the banks of the Po, in the region of Lombardy north ofItaly.

Understand

Bordered by the Po, it is the city which has the highest bell tower in Italy.

Notable worldwide for its shoe stores as well as for various products of local gastronomy such as nougat and mostarda cremonese, Cremona was one of the richest and most powerful rival cities of Milan during the Middle Ages. The main historical monuments, medieval Romanesque and Gothic monuments are concentrated in Piazza del Comune: the Romanesque Duomo, the Torrazzo du XIIIe century symbol of the city, the Gothic baptistery, the Loggia dei Militi and the municipal palace make this square a monumental complex of great historical and artistic interest.

In 2017, Cremona and its province became part of the "European Region of Gastronomy-Eastern Lombardy", with the provinces of Mantua, Bergamo and Brescia.
