Curicó is a city in the Región del Maule, Central Chile.

background

The city is about 200 km south of Santiago de Chile. The region is particularly known for its excellent wines. In addition, the city, founded in 1743, is said to have the most beautiful Plaza de Armas in Chile. The reason for this could be the numerous statues and the very old and large trees.
The cityscape is more like a small town. Only a few of the houses have several floors. The streets are typically arranged in squares.

There is a new (oversized) shopping center southwest of the city center, where you can actually find everything. In the center there are smaller, traditional shops. The main shopping street is Prat. If you follow Avenida Henriquéz to the west you come to the Fería (weekly market), where fruit, vegetables and fish are offered very cheaply.
