The Zürcher Oberland steam railway is a licensed railway transport company with its own route. It also has the authorization to use other routes in free network access, which is also often used for extra trips. It has an extensive inventory of rolling stock, in which the Uster locomotive depot the major maintenance is carried out.

They own the 6 km long former Uerikon-Bauma railway line from BaumaBäretswil. The route from Bäretswil to Hinwil it is used by it, but still belongs to the SBB. the line is single-track and electrified at 15 kV 16.7 Hz.

getting there

The exit station Bauma is at least every hour with the S26 from Winterthur or Rapperswil-Jona reachable from. In Hinwil there is a half-hourly connection to the S14 to Zurich. From Bauma via Bäretswil to Wetzikon A ZVV bus runs every hour.

train ride

The route leads from Bauma uphill over the Wissenbach Viaduct am Neuthal industrial ensemble and the Neuental stop to reach the Bäretswil cruising train station on a rather flat basis. From there the route leads downhill to Hinwil.

The museum train usually runs public steam rides on the first and third Sunday in summer. These moves are recorded in the course book in field 742.

Prices: The journey from Bauma to Hinwil costs 20 francs, return 35 francs, sections from 5 francs, tickets are available at the stations and on the train.

If there is a risk of forest fire, the club's own electric locomotive Be 4/4 or other historic electrically powered locomotives can be used instead of the company's own steam locomotives.

Please follow the safety instructions of the train crew. The tracks may not be entered without consent. The contact lines are under high voltage, and a deadly electric arc can occur when approaching them.
