Delta Amacuro is one of the federated states of the Venezuelan Guayana in Venezuela.
To know
Region covered by a thick blanket of vegetation, it is still inhabited by a few thousand indios guaraúnos, now in danger of extinction.
Geographical notes
It is located in the east of the country in the Orinoco Valley and borders the Atlantic Ocean to the north, to the south with the state of Bolívar, to the east with the Atlantic Ocean and the Guyana and to the west with the state of Monagas. It forms, with the states Bolívar and Amazonas, a macro-region known as Venezuelan Guayana.
About half of the surface of the state is occupied by the vast delta of the Orinoco river within which there are numerous islands formed by alluvial deposits and separated from each other by various navigable channels.
