Dietzhölztal consists of the four formerly independent municipalities of Ewersbach (seat of the municipal administration), Steinbrücken, Rittershausen and Almonds. Like many places in the Lahn-Dill-Bergland, Dietzhölztal is also strongly influenced by the iron processing industry, but the place is also in the middle of untouched nature and is therefore interesting for tourists, even if it is still completely undiscovered and untapped.

By train

The former Dietzhölztalbahn has been shut down for a long time and is only occasionally used by special trains. The next regularly served train station is in Dillenburg.

By bus

From Dillenburg there is a bus connection (line 302) to Dietzhölztal. The buses run Mon-Fri every hour with densities in rush hour traffic, Sat every hour, so there are only three trips.

There is also a bus connection from the train station Bad Laasphe to Dietzhölztal. Due to a special regulation, these buses can also be used with RMV tickets.

In the street

Dietzhölztal is away from national roads. Of the A45, Departure Symbol: AS25 Dillenburg you drive another 20 km to Dietzhölztal.

Tourist Attractions

  • 1  Forsthaus Dietzhölze. Probably the most remote forester's house in Hesse is located at the end of a 5 km long access road from Rittershausen in the midst of untouched nature. The forester's house can be rented as a holiday home; the contact person is the Herborn Forestry Office.

  • fishing in the Hammerweiher. The municipal administration issues day fishing permits from April to October.
  • Winter sports: There is a ski lift on the Eichholzkopf above Rittershausen, which is put into operation when the snow conditions allow.
