Digne-les-Bains (until 1988 only Digne) is a southern French City and is the seat of the prefecture of the department Alpes-de-Haute-Provence in the region Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. Digne-les-Bains is a spa town (les Bains) and is also called the "capital of lavender".

Digne-les-Bains is beautifully situated on both banks of the Bléone a tributary of the Durance. The surrounding mountains reach 1500-1900m altitude and invite you to various hikes.

The area of Digne-les-Bain is a first-class hiking area, which offers smaller and larger tours up to an altitude of over 2000m. - From Rocher de Neuf Heures you have a beautiful view of the city (about 1 hour ascent from the city center). There's a nice one there too Via ferrata (Level of difficulty AD, time required 2h to 2h30, via ferrata equipment required).

- The chapel is particularly worth seeing Saint-Michel du Cousson, on the south side of the Cousson. The easiest way to get to this destination is from the hiking car park at the end of the hamlet Entrages which is located at the end of a junction of the D20 a few kilometers south of Digne (7.4km, 550 meters in altitude, about 3 hours). From the chapel you can reach the second peak of the Cousson with a great view in 15 minutes. Well-fit hikers tackle the goal directly from the city (16km, 1000 meters in altitude, 6 hours).
- An amazingly well-preserved one Ichthyosaurs can be found directly at the place where it was found. The starting point for this small tour (4km, 200 meters in altitude (including counter-ascent), 1h30m) is the hiking car park on the D900a about 6km north of Digne Tour description, German.
- If you are already sitting in the car, it is also worth taking a look at the Clues de Barles, the very narrow valley of the Bés, a few kilometers up the valley also on the D900a. There is also a very nice hike on a 1152m high nameless mountain, which offers a special view of the so-called Velodrome offers. The beautiful climb Sentier de decouverte initially leads to Vieil Esclangon (1060m) and then on to the goal.
- Also there a nice tour to Lame de Facibelle a very narrow vertical rock blade (2.6km, 150 meters in altitude, 1h). After the parking lot on the street, the Bes is crossed on a suspension bridge. The tour can be extended as required.
